Park house football 5&6 boys
On Monday 21st November, the year 5&6 boys were in action again. This time, they were competing at the West Berkshire Schools Sports Network 7-a-side football competition. Our group consisted of Spurcroft, Aldermaston, Basildon, Bradfield and Hungerford. Despite the adverse weather conditions which made it very difficult for the schools to play football, the boys managed to play very well and found themselves controlling most of the games they played. After 5 games, Fir Tree finished with 3 wins, 2 draws and 0 defeats. This resulted in us finishing as group runners up to Spurcroft, who managed an impressive 4 wins, 1 draw and 0 defeats. Once again, well done to the team, who will now be competing in the finals on Monday 12th December!!

ESFA Small Schools competition
On Thursday 17th November our year 5&6 boys played their second competition of the season. This time it was the ESFA small schools competition held at Trinity School. The competition consisted of 8 schools - Basildon, Brightwalton, Stockcross, Fir Tree, Bradfield, Inkpen, Curridge and Shaw-cum-Donnington. Fir Tree were placed in a group with Brightwalton, Basildon and Inkpen. After a difficult start against Inkpen, Fir Tree produced some excellent football and managed to go through the group stages in second place. The semi-final draw was made, which saw us come up against Stockcross. Fir Tree won the game 2-0 and went on to play Brightwalton in the final, who we’d already faced in our group. The group match was very close, with Fir Tree managing a narrow 1-0 win. The final proved to be exactly the same. After 8 minutes of football there was nothing to separate the sides. 2 minutes of injury time followed, and Fir Tree found the breakthrough that we’d been looking for. Again the result between the two sides finished as 1-0. A huge congratulations to the boys who now move onto the next stage of the competition, where we’ll face Burghfield Primary. The winners will represent Berkshire in the country finals. Should we continue to progress, we may even have the opportunity to play at the national finals! Well done!!!

Our team, consisting of year 4&5 girls (Tallulah Rix, Joey Curtis, Caitlyn Jones, Isabela Ramos, Isabella Evans, Kaidei-lee Reed, Ellie Herbert (c), Sakshi Kamra and Charlotte Lewenden) were taking on St Gabriels. The game was very close, with both teams having exceptionally strong players. The quality of football was outstanding and was separated by 3 very good goals from Tallulah Rix and Kaidie-lee Reed. Each of the children experimented by playing in 3-4 different positions throughout the game. Our girls were brilliant in each role that they played and are getting stronger and stronger in every game they play for the school. Well done girls! It’s going to be an exciting season ahead!
